1st Step - Which Guitar?

Ok - so you have decided to play the guitar but as you may know there are several options.

An acoustic guitar does not need an amplifier. You can pick it up and play it wherever you are. This guitar is great to strum some chords and sing along to your favourite tunes.

If you are more interested in heavy metal, rock music or guitar soloing then you are going to need an electric guitar. You can obtain a starter package for not too much money that includes an amplifier. Electric guitars really need an amplifier to create the sound.

There are many shapes and styles of ecetric guitar which we will cover at a later date. There are also many different types of amplifiers and in addition to this there are effects pedals and processors to change or colour your sounds.

It is possible to get combinations of guitars. An acoustic guitar that can be plugged into an amplifier is called an electro-acoustic and also there is more of an electric guitar style called a semi-acoutic that also plugs into an amplifier. We will go through reviews of this at a later stage.

This is step one for you. Decide what you want. I persoanlly started on the acoustic guitar. Now I have several of both types of guitar. I would say I play my electric guitar 70% of the time and my acoustic the other 30% but I love the two styles the same.
