Tuning Up
So you have chosen the type of guitar you want to buy. Before you leave the guitar shop there is another important item you will need - a guitar tuner.
Guitar tuners come in all shapes, styles and sizes. For now, something very basic will do the job for you. I would suggest you only need to spend £18 or less on a tuner.
I would advise you get a tuner with a built in microphone as well as an input. This means that you can plug in your electric guitar direct or, as with an acoustic guitar, play the note and the tuner will pick it up.
Most tuners, if not all, are extremely easy to use. You simply play the note on your guitar and the tuner tells you whether or not the note is too high or too low.
