More Essential Chords

Ok so I am sure you are getting the previous chords down brilliantly and already you have the ability to strum along to hundreds, if not thousands, of songs.

Now it is time to increase your repertoire of chords which will allow you to play pretty much every song.

It is important to first get every note of the chord sounding perfect then work at slowly changing between one chord to another ensuring that quality is always there.

Take a look at these chords:

AchordAm Chord E Chord F Chord

Make sure you take note here regarding which strings should not be played. I’ll briefly write out the recommended fingering here.

A

1st finger - D string - 2nd fret

2nd finger - G String - 2nd fret

3rd finger - B String - 2nd fret

Am

1st finger - B String - 1st fret

2nd finger - D string - 2nd fret

3rd finger - G string - 2nd fret

The E is the same fingering as the Am but moved along the strings.

F

1st finger - E string and B string* - 1st fret

2nd finger - G string - 2nd fret

3rd finger - D string - 3rd fret

* holding more that one string down is called a barre or bar. You need to rest your first finger to play 2 notes at once.

We will talk more about barre chords shortly…………….
